We have been hoping to run some arts and crafts events for so long…
This week – finally – after the massive intrusion of COVID-19, the DAC was able to get some people together for Macramé@McDonald’s.
Thanks to funding from PowerNI for making our community brighter, we were able to host a crafting event in the new picnic area of our local McDonald’s (thanks to Alison Hunter for accommodating us).
Craft Diva Jan Aitken kindly agreed to lead a macramé workshop, and 8 of us braved the slight drizzle to enjoy a COVID-secure evening of crafting.
Jan has a lot of experience at this kind of thing and was incredibly patient with Mr Pidgeon in the bottom group of the class. Fortunately, the other attendees showed a little bit more flair.
Libby said after the event, “I hadn’t realised how much I had missed doing things like this”. And this reflected the general mood of the group. It was just great to be out, meeting new people – at a safe distance – and trying a new skill.
In this case it was macramé plant pot holders. Who knows what we’ll try at future events? But having had such a good time there is no question we will do some more of these over the summer. We look forward to you joining us!
Thanks so much Jan. And also for Emma Diane McManus for the excellent photography.
