Piece: ‘Love’ [Cross stitch]

I studied Interactive Art in Manchester in the 90s and haven’t done much art since due to family commitments and mental health issues following a bereavement. I have struggled to try to engage with Art again since the death of baby Daisy as that was life before Daisy which for some reason felt hard to embrace again. The DAC is my husband’s initiative which I said was amazing but never thought I’d be involved in the production of a piece piece of art for it. However I became inspired when there was talk of yarn bombing on the Facebook page. Recently a good friend had taught me to crochet and I have found crocheting so therapeutic. In the evening I find it a relaxing way to unwind. The ‘Love’ piece in the window of St John’s Court cafe was an experiment to trial large scale cross stitch. I never planned it for exhibition but was so pleased with how it turned out and am delighted that the cafe are currently exhibiting in their window in time for Valentines Day.
